High-ticket appointment setter & closer

Start with a conversation. Earn the next step.

I’m Sam. My background includes direct phone sales, over nine years in hospitality, and software development. I’m looking to work with coaching, mentorship, and education teams that need support with appointment setting, closing, or both.

I enjoy getting to know who I’m speaking with, understanding what brought them there, and helping them figure out whether moving forward makes sense. When there’s a fit, I believe in being clear and direct about the next step.

Sales experience at a glance

I've had the conversations. I've made the sales.

I spent six months selling life insurance over the phone, working with approximately 600 provided leads through a multi-line dialer. The work involved discussing coverage needs, explaining policy options, and helping prospective clients make decisions about financial protection.

What I learned from those calls

Some people knew what they needed. Others weren’t particularly interested in the first place. The most productive conversations were the ones where I could understand what someone was looking for, explain their options, and help them decide whether the coverage made sense.

The ~6% figure represents lead-to-policy conversion, not high-ticket closing performance. Coverage written refers to policy face value, not revenue.

How I can contribute

Where I fit into your sales process.

I’m interested in both appointment setting and closing. I’ve worked in phone sales, spoken directly with prospective customers, and learned how much preparation and communication matter when someone is making a purchasing decision. The responsibilities are different, so here’s how I’d approach each role.

Appointment setting

Make the first conversation worth having.

For me, appointment setting starts with understanding why someone expressed interest and what they’re hoping to get out of the offer.

I’d focus on qualifying interest, asking about their situation and timing, keeping follow-up organized, and giving the closer enough context to pick up where the conversation left off.

  • Prospect conversations and follow-up
  • Qualification based on interest, needs, and readiness
  • Appointment booking and clear handoffs
Closing

Help qualified prospects make a decision.

I’d want to understand what the prospect is trying to accomplish, what they’ve already tried, and what questions or concerns they have about moving forward.

My insurance experience taught me how to discuss a product, explain available options, and ask someone to make an important purchasing decision. I’d bring that into learning your offer, addressing genuine objections, and recommending the next step when it fits.

  • Consultative discovery and needs assessment
  • Clear offer explanations and objection handling
  • Direct closing conversations and respectful follow-up

Experience beyond direct sales

The experience behind how I work.

I’ve spent years working with customers, supporting coworkers in busy restaurants, and developing software for clients. Those experiences have made me comfortable communicating with different people and figuring things out when the situation changes.

Relationships that last.

Premium hospitality · XOXO Sushi Bar

At XOXO, I built a regular clientele, including guests who specifically requested bar seating. Remembering preferences and making thoughtful recommendations helped create the kind of experience people wanted to return for.

Leadership under pressure.

STK Steakhouse & XOXO Sushi Bar

I was promoted to Bar Lead at STK Boston, helping coordinate six bartenders and four barbacks. At XOXO, I supported training, service coordination, and guest recovery during busy services of roughly 70–120 restaurant covers.

Understanding the technical side.

Full-stack software development · Mind+Matter & Upwork

I have over 2.5 years of software development experience, working with clients and technical teams to turn business requirements into working software. That experience taught me to ask questions before jumping into a solution, learn unfamiliar tools, and communicate clearly when someone approaches a problem differently.

My sales philosophy

An honest conversation beats a forced yes.

I care about whether the offer actually makes sense for the person I’m speaking with.

That means asking good questions, listening to the answers, and giving someone enough information to make a decision. I’d rather understand what’s behind a concern than rush past it with a scripted response.

At the same time, a sales conversation needs direction. I’m comfortable asking someone to move forward when there’s a fit, and I’d rather address a genuine objection directly than dance around the decision.

If the offer isn’t right for them, I believe it’s better to say so.

Respect the person.

Direct when it matters. Thoughtful from the start.

A little about me

How I got here.

My career has taken me through hospitality, software development, and insurance sales.

Hospitality taught me how to read the room and build relationships. Insurance gave me direct experience speaking with prospects and helping them choose financial protection. Software development taught me to understand the business problem behind a technical solution.

I’m interested in bringing that experience to a coaching, mentorship, or education team. I want to understand the offer, the people it serves, and how I can contribute to the sales process.

Work together

Let's see if there's a fit.

Building a coaching, mentorship, or education business? Tell me a little about your offer, how your sales team currently works, and where you could use another set of hands. I’d be glad to have a straightforward conversation about appointment setting, closing, or both.
